How to Keep Kids From Using Too Much Toilet Paper

This morning, our sweet little Anna filled the toilet bowl with toilet paper after going potty, flushed it repeatedly, and flooded the bathroom.  In the afternoon, she did it again.  After the day's events, I thought it would be a good time to resurrect this post that originally was published on my previous blog, Supermommy!...Or Not.  Enjoy!  I'm off to buy some stickers!

Kids (and some adults!) are notorious for using too much toilet paper.  More than once, I've caught my kids happily unrolling about 2 yards of toilet paper for one wipe.  That's kind of a money waster.

To save money on toilet paper, I could do what this lady did and switch to reusable toilet paper aka family cloth (my hat's off to you if you can pull this off!)  But since that idea appealed to me about as much as sticking a screwdriver in my ear, I thought I'd go a different route.

I unrolled 3 squares of toilet paper and put a sticker on the wall where the toilet paper stopped.

I even got fancy and drew an arrow on the sticker.  I'm so artistic that I impress myself sometimes.  You can also get some really cute stickers here.

If putting a sticker on your bathroom wall is not your cup of tea, you could always use a permanent marker to mark how far to pull down the toilet paper.

JUST KIDDING!!!!  I do not endorse the use of permanent markers on walls-just ask Katie and Anna.

  2. LOL...this made me laugh because I have the same problem, even with my 8 year old (though my 4 year old is worse). And yes, I loved your artsy arrow :-)
